Inaugural Ceremony of “10 M World Class Shooting Range”

Dogra Group of institutions have added another feather in their cap with the Inauguration of General Zorawar Singh Rifle Club (Affiliated to J&K Rifle association). In order to develop interest in shooting as a sport, among youth of the country a state of art, “10m shooting range”which is fully air conditioned and well equipped to meet international standards was inaugurated by Shri Dilbagh Singh IPS, DGP, Commandant General Home Guard/Civil Defence & SDRF J&K and president J&K Rifle association on 26 th Aug 2017 in Dogra Educational Complex Bari Brahmana, Jammu. The rifle club has come up in collaboration with the Dogra Educational Trust which is known all over the state for its crusade to empower youth and is committed to keep the beacon of light shining for ever through the academic pursuits delivered by Dogra Law
College, Dogra College of Education & Dogra Degree College beside other allied educational institutions.
The Inaugural ceremony began with exchange of greetings and presentation of Bouquet to the Chief guest Honourable Shri Dilbagh Singh IPS, DGP (J&K) and president J&K Rifle association. The presence of Brigadier Rajan Jamwal Group Commander, J&K NCC Group HQ,Jammu and Thakur Gulchain Singh Charak Former Minister, President, Dogra Sadar Sabha &Chairman, Dogra Educational Trust added impetus to the ceremony. The Chief guest and dignitaries then unveiled the foundation stone of world class 10m shooting range and while inaugurating the VIPs and ace shooters fired some inaugural shots too.Addressing the gathering the Chief guest Shri Dilbagh Singh IPS, DGP (J&K) and president J&K Rifle association gave his blessings and updated the audience with the sports scenario in J&K state and appreciated the efforts of setting up a world class shooting range for facilitating the potential shooters of the region. The Chief Guest also declared that At present It is the best range available in the state of Jammu & Kashmir.

In his presidential remarks Thakur Gulchain Singh Charak Former Minister, President,Dogra Sadar Sabha & Chairman, Dogra Educational Trust briefing the audience said that shooting sport has a long tradition in India especially in the Duggar land which is known for producing patriotic and valorous warriors and decorated officers who have a special inclination for putting weapons to worthy use for defending the country’s honour & pride.

Earlier delivering his welcome address in the Dogra Educational Complex’s auditorium,Director Administration & Campus Development and Joint Secretary General Zorawar Singh Rifle Club Sh. S.C. Khajuria formally and whole heartedly welcomed all for being a part of the inaugural ceremony. He also briefed everyone about this as a unique and distinctive initiative where a world class shooting facility has been made available to the future shooters of Jammu belt since this land of Dogras known for producing extra ordinary marks men like Sh. Chain Singh. Brigadier Rajan Jamwal while addressing the audience gave a brief on shooting as a sport and its prospects. He further added that the rifle club will help develop home-grown shooters who possess a strong sense of ethics and civic responsibility, and who will contribute to their country’s future. Good shooters are asset to the nation and NCC, where we further nourish &nurture them.
Concluding the inaugural ceremony Kr. Samar Dev Singh Charak, Secretary Dogra Educational Trust and Gen. Secretary General Zorawar Singh Rifle club thanked the dignitaries Principals of various school & colleges and prominent citizens for gracing the occasion and informed everyone to spread the message so that the shooting range could be utilized by each and every person who is interested in developing it as a sport. All the office bearers of General Zorawar Singh Rifle Club marked their presence on the occasion.
The ceremony finally concluded with the national anthem.
